About this Workshop

This workshop-style panel will explore momentum strategies and help you identify motivators to make yourself an unstoppable academic. With four students and two faculty from working-class backgrounds contributing to the discussion, this workshop represents a diverse range of experiences balancing off-campus work and family care responsibilities with college education.

Panelists will share their stories and discuss how they generate momentum and maintain motivation while managing coursework alongside other responsibilities including full-time jobs and childcare. Panelists will reflect on strategies for juggling competing demands and interests, respecting personal relationships, prioritizing responsibilities (especially during your freshman year), tips for managing a toddler while going to school, dealing with the threat of COVID-19 as a worker and a student, and how to draw strength from a working-class background.
