About this Workshop

This presentation will outline efforts currently underway to develop a first-generation certificate program for faculty and staff professional development co-designed by students and a faculty mentor in a first-generation learning community. Participants will learn about challenges rural first-generation working-class students face at one of the most diverse universities in the South—founded by and for American Indians—and what is being done to promote community and awareness on campus.
