Wren Bareiss

About this speaker

PhD studies relationships among communication and culture, with an emphasis on health, at the University of South Carolina Upstate. He earned his doctorate from Indiana University and his master’s from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. He earned a postdoctoral graduate certificate in health communication from the Arnold School for Public Health and the School of Journalism at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Bareiss’ research has been published in The Journal of Medical Humanities and Health: An Interdisciplinary Journal for the Social Study of Health, Illness and Medicine, and other journals and books. His most recent work is an edited book on non-suicidal self-injury as communication. Subjects that he teaches include health narrative, communication research methods, and health communication messaging. Dr. Bareiss also developed and coordinates the health communication minor at Upstate.
