Lenn Darla Jean-Gilles

My name is Lenn Darla Jean Gilles, I am a Nursing Major with a minor in Biology & Psychology . I am a first generation student and I am currently a senior at Salem State University. I aspire to be a nurse midwife and I am a makeup artist. First Gen we often face many challenges/barriers such as racial disparity, college adjustments, financial challenges, family support and lack of college readiness. But, With the help of STEP, a program dedicated to helping and facilitating my experience was able to provide me with necessary information such as resources, knowledge, coaches, supportive peers, that provided me with many opportunities to grow and to have a smooth transition not only for my first year here at Salem State University, but for the rest of my years at Salem.
