Laisha Aniceto

Student, Smith College

About this speaker

Laisha Aniceto (she/her) is a first-gen student at Smith College. The cultural transition from living in the Southwest to New England left Laisha seeking a home away from home. She found that place through Smith’s Narratives Project: First-Gen Out Loud program (FGOL) her first year as a cohort member. Now, she's a sophomore and stayed connected to FGOL by serving as a peer mentor and intern to the program. Laisha also feels at home in her role as sophomore class liaison for CLIFS (Community for Low-Income and First-Gen Students). Beyond academia, Laisha is very connected to her Oaxacan culture, and in her free time she enjoys doing arts and crafts with her little sister.
