About this speaker

Greetings! My name is Judah Vashti Doty. I am a native of New Orleans, La however, I spent most of my formative years in Atlanta, Ga. I am a non-traditional third-year James Baldwin Scholar student who studies Africana Studies through the lens of Black Childhood and Identity with a focus on Diversity and Inclusion in Higher Education. Before becoming a full-time student, I had a ten-year medical career serving as an Oncological/Hereditary Genetic Testing Coordinator and Patient Advocate at the most prestigious hospital in Atlanta, Ga. I consider myself an invaluable member of a community of scholars who critically engage and produce work that intersects cultural exchange and thoroughly concentrates on often marginalized perspectives. At Hampshire College, I am a student leader for a few campus groups such as the James Baldwin Program, SISTERS, and the Childhood, Youth, and Learning Program. I am the Board of Trustees student representative of the Academic Affairs Committee at Hampshire College as well as one of the representatives from Hampshire College on the Five College Student Coordinating Board. I serve as an on-going Research Assistant for Acts of Liberation/Seedz of Revolution (soon to be released) film documentary series. The center of this research lies within the intersections of Black childhood, performance, agency, and identity. My future career goals are to serve as Director/Dean of Diversity and Inclusion at an institution in higher education as well as develop a non-profit organization that focuses on aiding high school students of color through their transition to college. My insightful mind, intellectual prowess, and community-centered approach are only overshadowed by my cheerful heart, compassion, and faithful commitment to liberation for those disenfranchised and marginalized.
